It was a natural fit to partner with Busboys and Poets to help us celebrate Langston Hughes’ life and significant contribution.” "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Andy Shallal, founder and proprietor of Busboys and Poets, a community restaurants that embrace diversity, art and culture,” said Bill Walsh, general manager, Washington Marriott Wardman Park, “ The past 100 years, Wardman Park has been host to many historic events that have been woven into America’s culture. On Langston Hughes’ birthday, February 1, Washington Marriott Wardman Park, in partnership with renowned community restaurant group and cultural hubīusboys and Poets, celebrated the great American poet with an evening of jazz and poetry and a performance of The Weary Blues, Langston Hughes’ most influential poem. Respect and listen to your hosts, servers, cooks, bussers and bartenders. The point is you can do so much better by respecting your staff. Don’t even get me started on the rats and bugs. Busboys and Poets is a 2 star restaurant at most for just these reasons alone. You guys fired and drove away your best employees and even more are thinking about quitting because of your disrespect towards us, your lack of action to help your staff when we need you the most. If other restaurants and stadiums can do it … I promise you can do it. You should feed your employees a free meal everyday making sure they don’t go home hungry. You should respect your employees limitations especially if they tell you the times they can and cannot work because they have no transportation. Now all the staff even me have our bad days when we aren’t perfect that’s for sure but when the higher ups are constantly dragging you down being completely disrespectful that’s when it’s not okay. All they seem to do is come to the work place stress us out, do paperwork, eat and be lazy. How the hell the higher ups get paid more than the employees when they do a horrible job is beyond me. I am writing this to help my fellow tribe members who still work there because I built a bond with them and I don’t want them to suffer anymore. Now let’s talk about our management and I’m not talking about managers nope I’m talking about the higher ups who cause their employees so much anguish and the constant disrespect. They have TV’s yet have no intention to earn revenue by putting on sports in one of their several rooms so that’s one category of customers you lost right there. I can tell you there is much to be given before even being worthy to be called a great place to eat the food is 3 stars at most if I’m being generous. person who works for a 2 billion dollar company now that serves multi billion companies. I loved maybe 2 of my managers the rest were …. If it wasn’t for the 50% discount for employees I would never in a million years eat here. THIS PLACE IS NOT WORTHY OF SPENDING YOUR HARD MONEY ON. My daughter asked me why did I even bother because I felt the same way before. I was disappointed with my food yet again. I just went there today, November 7, 2022. I was proud to have a nice place for us to eat together to celebrate birthdays, Mother's Day, etc. I say this as a Loyalty member who has taken my family there for celebrations some of them have been vegan, gluten free, meat eaters, etc. What's happening? I love this restaurant but cannot say the same for the food. We have actually been disappointed with the taste and quality of the food we ordered from the menu, including the coffee. I can speak from going there several times for brunch. food is different there is something definitely missing with some of the dishes. The quality and taste were unique and I always looked forward to taking my family there. Over the years I have grown to love the atmosphere at Busboys and Poets in Hyattsville, MD.
